Project Overview
The UF-695 Black Hall 4th Floor Lab Renovations project was a $6.5 million higher education renovation in Gainesville, Florida, commissioned by the University of Florida. The scope transformed the entire 8,658 GSF fourth floor of Black Hall into an interdisciplinary bio-tech laboratory for the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. The program included wet lab bench space, a cGMP laboratory, BSL II tissue culture rooms, autoclave rooms, collaboration spaces, and infrastructure for at least six Principal Investigators. Additional scope covered ADA upgrades, HVAC improvements, and elevator modernization, with mandatory Green Globes 3 Certification. The client engaged PRESWERX to support the pursuit with a written proposal.
Client Challenges
The client was pursuing a technically specialized laboratory renovation for one of the country's top public research universities under a formal procurement process. The pursuit carried several distinct challenges:
Communicating a highly technical bio-tech laboratory program to a research institution with precise requirements for wet lab infrastructure, clean manufacturing space, and biosafety compliance.
