Project Overview

The Raleigh-Durham International Airport project was a $160,000,000 parking facility expansion at one of the Southeast's fastest-growing airports in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Park Economy 3 expansion encompassed a 100-acre development designed to nearly triple the airport's parking capacity, addressing rising demand and enabling the broader infrastructure investments outlined in RDU's Vision 2040 plan. The project prioritized customer convenience, operational efficiency, resilience, and sustainability, positioning it as a foundational piece of the airport's long-term growth strategy. To support the pursuit, the client engaged PRESWERX to produce renderings and animations.

Client Challenges

The client was pursuing a large-scale airport infrastructure project where the scale and strategic significance of the development needed to be made visually concrete before construction began:

  • Communicating the scale of a 100-acre parking expansion that would nearly triple RDU's capacity, in a way that conveyed both operational impact and design quality.

  • Visualizing a project that balanced customer experience, sustainability, and large-scale infrastructure for a sophisticated airport authority owner.

  • Illustrating the PE3 expansion's role within RDU's broader Vision 2040 framework, demonstrating how the project would enable future airport development.

Together, these challenges required visuals that conveyed both the project's physical scale and its strategic significance to the airport's long-term growth.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX produced renderings and animations for the client's pursuit of the Park Economy 3 expansion at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The deliverables visualized the 100-acre parking facility, communicating its scale, design character, and integration with the broader airport campus. The renderings depicted the expansion at a level of detail that conveyed design quality and the project's commitment to customer convenience and sustainability to the airport authority owner. The animations brought the completed facility to life dynamically, illustrating how the near-tripling of parking capacity would reshape the airport's operational landscape and support the Vision 2040 growth plan.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX focused on producing visuals that matched the scope and strategic ambition of a $160 million airport infrastructure investment.

  • Developed renderings that communicated the scale, character, and design quality of a 100-acre parking expansion, giving the airport authority a concrete visual reference for the project.

  • Created animations that placed the completed facility in context within RDU's broader campus, illustrating the PE3 expansion's role as a catalyst for the airport's Vision 2040 development plan.

  • Calibrated visual quality to reflect the project's dual emphasis on customer convenience and sustainability, communicating both function and long-term ambition.

The result was a set of deliverables that made one of RDU's most consequential infrastructure projects tangible and compelling to evaluators.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete set of renderings and animations built for a competitive pursuit at one of the Southeast's most active airport development programs.

  • Renderings gave the airport authority a concrete visual understanding of the 100- acre expansion's scale, design quality, and relationship to the existing campus.

  • Animations conveyed the PE3 expansion dynamically, illustrating how nearly tripled parking capacity would serve the airport's growing passenger base and enable downstream Vision 2040 projects.

  • A consistent visual standard across all deliverables reflected the quality expected of a $160 million, sustainability-focused airport infrastructure investment.

The client entered the selection with visual materials that made the project's scale, strategic value, and design ambition immediately clear.
