Project Overview

The Neonatal Critical Care Center expansion converted the existing sixth floor Women's patient unit at UNC Health into a new dedicated NCCC in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The project required multiphase construction within a fully occupied patient unit, demanding close coordination with the design team, UNC Hospitals' clinical and project management staff, the state's Division of Health Service Regulation, and the State Office of Construction. Delivering a specialized care environment inside an active hospital floor made sequencing and safety central to the project's success. For the pursuit, the client engaged PRESWERX to develop the presentation materials needed to convey the project's scope and phasing.

Client Challenges

Presenting a multiphase renovation inside a fully occupied hospital unit required addressing several hurdles:

  • Communicating how construction would proceed in phases without disrupting active patient care.

  • Conveying coordination across multiple stakeholders, including clinical staff, hospital project management, and state regulators.

  • Preparing the team for a live selection presentation to a healthcare focused audience.

Together, these challenges called for presentation materials that made a sensitive, multi phase renovation easy to trust.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed the presentation, presentation coaching, renderings, and animations used to support the pursuit of the Neonatal Critical Care Center expansion. Renderings and animations translated the conversion of the sixth floor Women's unit into a new NCCC, illustrating how construction would proceed in phases within an occupied hospital floor. The visuals addressed the coordination required among the design team, clinical staff, hospital project management, and state regulatory bodies. Presentation coaching prepared the team's speakers to address the sensitivity of building within an active patient care environment with clarity and confidence.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX approached the pursuit as a trust building exercise as much as a design one:

  • Built renderings and animations that clarified how phased construction would proceed without disrupting patient care.

  • Illustrated the coordination required among clinical staff, hospital management, and state regulators.

  • Coached the presentation team on pacing and delivery ahead of the live selection interview.

The result was a presentation package that let the client demonstrate control over a complex, occupied space renovation.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a full suite of presentation assets held to the standard of a specialized healthcare construction program:

  • Renderings and animations that gave the selection committee a clear view of the phased construction sequence.

  • Visual materials that conveyed the coordination required across clinical and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Coaching that sharpened the team's delivery for the live presentation.

The client entered the selection process with a cohesive, well rehearsed story and visual materials built to match the sensitivity of the project.
