Project Overview

The Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital Replacement Project was a $1.6 billion new construction initiative for Harris Health System in Houston, Texas. The project called for up to two million square feet of new facilities on the existing LBJ Hospital Campus, including 400 to 600 beds across two towers, a central plant, medical office buildings, a parking garage, and retention infrastructure. Construction was required to be fully phased to maintain continuous, uninterrupted operations of the existing hospital throughout the build. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop and coach the interview presentation for the selection.

Client Challenges

The client needed to make a compelling case for one of the most complex hospital construction pursuits in the region, in a live interview setting:

  • Communicating a credible phasing approach for constructing two million square feet of new facilities while keeping the existing LBJ campus fully operational at all times.

  • Demonstrating the capacity and experience required for a $1.6 billion, multi-tower healthcare project with continuous operational constraints.

  • Differentiating in a high-stakes competitive selection where technical depth and interview delivery both carried significant weight.

The pursuit demanded materials precise enough to satisfy a sophisticated healthcare owner and a team confident enough to deliver them under pressure.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed the interview presentation and provided coaching for the client's team ahead of Harris Health System's selection. The presentation addressed the full scope of the LBJ Hospital Replacement Project, including the team's approach to constructing two towers, a central plant, medical office buildings, and a parking garage while maintaining uninterrupted operations across the existing campus. Coaching sessions prepared the team to deliver the material with confidence, navigate complex evaluator questions, and convey the depth of their healthcare construction experience in a high-pressure interview. Each element was designed to strengthen the client's standing in a highly competitive field.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX built the presentation and coached the team in parallel, treating both as equally critical to competing at the level the pursuit demanded.

  • Built the narrative around the project's central challenge: phased construction that kept the existing LBJ campus in continuous, uninterrupted operation throughout the build.

  • Structured the material to demonstrate the team's technical depth on large-scale healthcare construction and their specific readiness for this project.

  • Coached the team on delivery, pacing, and responding to complex evaluator questions with precision.

The client entered the interview with a clear story, a prepared team, and the credibility to compete at this level.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete interview package suited to one of the most consequential hospital construction pursuits in the region.

  • The presentation organized the client's approach to the project's most demanding requirements, including phased delivery and continuous campus operations, into a clear, evaluator-ready narrative.

  • Coaching prepared the team to deliver the material with precision and handle complex evaluator questions with confidence.

  • Together, the materials and preparation gave the client a well-rehearsed, unified showing that reflected the depth of the team.

The client entered the selection room prepared to compete for a $1.6 billion contract at the level the opportunity demanded.
