Project Overview

East Carolina University sought to modernize two aging student residence halls at its campus in Greenville, NC. The Jones and Legacy Residence Hall Renovation encompassed $56 million in comprehensive upgrades to both facilities, including complete bathroom renovations, full HVAC system replacement, room and corridor finish upgrades, window and roof replacement, and, for Legacy Hall, a new elevator, a relocated ground-level main entrance, and a fully renovated basement. The scope was technically layered and spanned two distinct buildings with separate program needs. PRESWERX partnered with the client to build the full pursuit package, from written proposal through live interview preparation.

Client Challenges

The client was pursuing a complex, multi-building renovation for a university owner and needed to communicate a technically dense scope with clarity and confidence:

  • Organizing a wide-ranging renovation across two buildings into a single, cohesive proposal narrative

  • Translating mechanical, envelope, and program upgrades into visuals accessible to a non-technical selection panel

  • Differentiating the team in a competitive university procurement environment

  • Preparing presenters for a live interview where technical depth and composure both matter

Each challenge pointed to the same underlying need: a pursuit package that could carry both the complexity and the clarity the owner expected.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a complete pursuit package calibrated to the scope and audience of this dual-building university renovation. The team wrote a proposal that organized the renovation program for both Jones and Legacy halls into a focused, owner-facing narrative, connecting the technical scope to ECU's goals for student housing. PRESWERX produced renderings and animations that visualized the finished spaces across the most meaningful areas of the project, giving the selection panel a tangible preview of the work before ground was broken. The team also built a full interview presentation and delivered hands-on coaching to prepare the client's presenters for the selection event.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the pursuit as a storytelling challenge, working to bring clarity to a technically complex scope across two buildings with different renovation programs:

  • Structured the written proposal around ECU's priorities for student housing quality and long-term building performance

  • Created renderings and animations focused on the renovation's most visible and meaningful outcomes: updated bathrooms, refreshed corridors, and Legacy's new entrance sequence

  • Coached the client's presenters on message discipline, pacing, and how to address technical questions from a university selection committee

The result was a pursuit package built for both the depth of the scope and the expectations of the owner.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a pursuit package that met the standard of a $56 million university renovation selection:

  • The written proposal translated a complex, dual-building scope into a clear narrative aligned with ECU's student housing priorities

  • Renderings and animations gave the panel a high-quality visual preview of the finished spaces, from renovated bathrooms to Legacy's relocated entrance

  • Interview coaching gave the client's presenters the structure, delivery, and technical fluency to make a strong case before the selection committee

Going into the selection event, the client's team was fully prepared and confident.
