Project Overview

Iowa Western Community College pursued a new $50 million Transportation Building in Council Bluffs, Iowa, designed to consolidate and expand its transportation and technical training programs under one roof. The facility represented a significant investment in workforce development for the southwest Iowa region, providing students with modern labs, classrooms, and hands-on training environments suited to the demands of the transportation industry. To compete for the project, the general contractor needed to translate a complex, large-scale scope into a clear and compelling pursuit narrative. PRESWERX partnered with the client to develop the full pursuit package, including a proposal, renderings, animations, a project film, a selection presentation, and presentation coaching.

Client Challenges

Competing for a $50 million community college facility meant every pursuit element had to perform. The client faced several critical challenges:

  • Framing a large, complex scope as a cohesive story the owner could follow and connect to its programmatic goals

  • Visualizing design quality and program fit before construction began, in a way that made the facility feel real and achievable

  • Differentiating the team from a competitive field of contractors in a public selection process

  • Preparing presenters to deliver with confidence and precision in a live selection interview

Each challenge called for pursuit materials that were specific, polished, and built around the owner's priorities.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX delivered a comprehensive pursuit package tailored to the Iowa Western Community College selection process. The team developed a written proposal that organized the client's capabilities and project approach into a clear, owner-focused narrative. Photorealistic renderings depicted the finished facility in detail, giving the owner a vivid sense of the building's scale and design quality. Animations brought key spaces to life, illustrating how the building would function for students and faculty. A project film reinforced the client's identity and track record on comparable work. PRESWERX also developed the full selection presentation and provided hands-on coaching to sharpen delivery and prepare the team for panel questions.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the pursuit as a single integrated campaign. Every deliverable was built around one central narrative connecting the client's strengths to Iowa Western's vision for the Transportation Building:

  • Developed proposal content that organized complex scope information into a clear, owner-focused story tied to the college's academic and workforce development goals

  • Produced renderings, animations, and a project film with the visual specificity and polish the $50 million project demanded

  • Designed the selection presentation and coached the team to walk into the interview prepared, confident, and aligned on their message

The result was a coordinated pursuit package where every asset reinforced the same story.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete pursuit package built to perform at every stage of the selection process. Each deliverable was held to a professional standard and designed to work alongside the others:

  • The written proposal organized the client's qualifications and project approach into a narrative the owner could follow from cover to close

  • Renderings and animations made the $50 million facility tangible before a shovel hit the ground, anchoring the client's visual story

  • Presentation coaching left the team fully rehearsed and ready to answer questions with confidence in the live interview

The client entered the selection process with a unified story, strong visuals, and a team prepared to perform.
