Project Overview

Building #1 at Polk State College's Lakeland Academic Center underwent a comprehensive renovation in Winter Haven, Florida. Valued at over $12 million, the project transformed a core campus facility to better serve students and faculty at one of the region's leading community colleges. The scope demanded a pursuit strategy that could clearly convey the client's capability and experience to a public-sector owner with high standards. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop the full pursuit package, including the written proposal, presentation materials, and hands-on presentation coaching to prepare the team for the selection interview.

Client Challenges

The client needed to present a strong case for a competitive public-sector renovation project. Key challenges included:

  • Communicating a technically complex renovation scope in a way that resonated with a non-construction audience at a public institution

  • Differentiating the team's qualifications and relevant experience in a competitive field of capable contractors

  • Developing presentation materials that reflected the project's significance and the team's thoughtful approach to the work

  • Preparing team members to perform confidently and consistently in a live interview setting under evaluator scrutiny

Together, these challenges called for a cohesive pursuit strategy that addressed both the written and verbal components of the selection process.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed the complete pursuit package for the Building #1 renovation at Polk State College's Lakeland Academic Center. The team authored a polished written proposal tailored to the public-sector owner's evaluation criteria, distilling the client's qualifications and project approach into a clear and compelling narrative. PRESWERX also designed and produced the presentation materials used during the selection interview, structuring the content to tell a focused story about the client's capabilities. Presentation coaching sessions then prepared the client's team to deliver those materials with confidence, ensuring every presenter was aligned, practiced, and ready to address evaluator questions.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the proposal, presentation, and coaching as a single integrated pursuit effort rather than three separate deliverables. Specific actions included:

  • Developing a proposal narrative that connected the client's experience directly to Polk State College's project goals and procurement requirements

  • Designing presentation materials structured around the evaluators' key decision criteria, not just a recitation of the team's resume

  • Conducting targeted coaching sessions that refined each presenter's delivery and prepared the team for anticipated interview questions

The result was a team that entered the selection with a clear, consistent, and well-rehearsed message from first page to final answer.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, interview-ready pursuit package built specifically for Polk State College's selection process. Key deliverables included:

  • A written proposal that clearly articulated the client's qualifications and approach within the project-specific context of a $12 million academic renovation

  • A presentation deck structured to guide evaluators through the team's capabilities in a focused, logical sequence tied to the project's scope

  • Coaching sessions that gave each team member a confident, rehearsed delivery and a shared command of the project narrative

The client's team walked into the selection prepared, aligned, and equipped to make their strongest possible case.
