Project Overview
A $200,000,000 raw water delivery system in Leander, Texas represented a major underground infrastructure investment for the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority. The Phase 2 program encompassed two lake taps with multilevel screens, a gravity intake tunnel with an 8-foot cast-in-place concrete liner, an underground suction chamber with six well shafts, a 300-foot-deep construction access shaft, a transmission tunnel with a 78-inch welded steel liner, a 145 MGD pump station, and a maintenance building for invasive mussel control. The client engaged PRESWERX to produce renderings, animations, and films to support the competitive pursuit.
Client Challenges
Pursuing a $200,000,000 underground water project required the client to make highly complex, largely invisible construction work comprehensible and compelling for a technical utility owner:
Visualizing buried infrastructure, including tunnels, shafts, and underground chambers, that would be permanently below grade and impossible to observe during or after construction.
Communicating the scope and sequence of a multi-component program across lake taps, a 300-foot-deep access shaft, a transmission tunnel, and a 145 MGD pump station.
Differentiating the team's approach in a competitive infrastructure procurement with a technically sophisticated public utility owner.
The client needed visuals that made below-grade work vivid, legible, and credible.
Scope of Work
PRESWERX produced renderings, animations, and films for the Brushy Creek Phase 2 Raw Water Delivery System, developing visual assets that brought a complex underground infrastructure program to life for the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority. Renderings depicted key project elements, including the lake taps, intake tunnel, suction chamber, and pump station, at a level of detail that communicated construction scope and engineering intent. Animations and films illustrated the construction sequence and the operational logic of the completed system, translating a technically complex, multi-component project into a clear, compelling visual narrative for the utility owner and selection panel.
PRESWERX Approach
PRESWERX focused on solving the core visual challenge of underground infrastructure: making the invisible legible. The team addressed three priorities:
Rendering and animating buried elements, from the 300-foot access shaft to the transmission tunnel liner, to give the owner a clear spatial understanding of the work.
Sequencing animations and films to communicate the construction logic of a multi-component system that could not be observed in the field.
Producing assets at the technical and visual quality expected by a sophisticated public utility procurement panel.
The result was a visual package that turned a complex underground program into an accessible, compelling story.
