Project Overview
The City of Austin Department of Aviation pursued a $620 million Arrivals and Departures Hall to serve as the new front door to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The base scope included removal of the existing Red Garage, realignment of Presidential Boulevard, new curbside and roadway infrastructure, pedestrian bridges connecting parking and rental car facilities to the new hall, and all associated utilities work. The building itself encompassed passenger ticketing and check-in, domestic baggage claim, concessions, public amenities, airline and TSA space, and Department of Aviation offices, with a direct connection to the existing Barbara Jordan Terminal for uninterrupted access to security screening. Planning for phased future additions was included in the base scope. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop the presentation and produce renderings and animations, then prepare the team through coaching for the live selection interview.
Client Challenges
A $620 million airport terminal project for one of the fastest-growing cities in the country presented a pursuit challenge at every level. The client needed to address several simultaneously:
Visualizing a complex, multi-component airport facility that did not yet exist, including the new hall, curbside infrastructure, pedestrian bridges, and its connection to the existing Barbara Jordan Terminal.
Communicating the team's capacity to manage one of the most logistically demanding construction environments in aviation, with active airport operations continuing throughout a major demolition and new construction program.
Preparing for a high-stakes city aviation interview where evaluators would hold every presenter to the standard expected of a team capable of delivering a landmark gateway for a city under intense national growth pressure.
The pursuit demanded a complete package built to the level of ambition the project represented for Austin and its traveling public.
Scope of Work
PRESWERX produced renderings, animations, and a structured presentation for the client's A/D Hall pursuit, then ran coaching sessions ahead of the live interview. Renderings depicted the new terminal hall in context on the airport campus, capturing the building's scale, its curbside relationship, and the pedestrian bridge connections to parking and rental car facilities. Animations provided a dynamic walkthrough of the facility, moving through the arrival and departure sequences to convey how the new hall would function as a seamless gateway for AUS passengers. The presentation organized the team's aviation construction experience around the project's specific scope and delivery challenges. Coaching sessions prepared the full team for a city aviation interview, with emphasis on active-airport construction protocols, phasing strategy, and the team's approach to the Barbara Jordan Terminal connection.

The result was a pursuit package built to the scale and significance of one of the largest aviation infrastructure investments in Austin's history.
